New miranda plugins?

Today I received a question through meebo about which plugins I intend to make. Then, I thought that it would be a good idea to post my todo list. Probabily a lot of then will never leave paper (so, I someone wants to code it, be my guest), but other ones may see the day light. Here they go:

  • Voice service: a service to provide a common UI for all plugins supporting voice calls. This one is already beeing coded and probabily will appear in the forum sometime in near future
  • Add libjingle support to jabber: I already tried it once and got disapointed about libjingle support for windows. But I indent to try again, after voice service plugins is ready (will i?)
  • Javascript plugin: the idea is create a way to execute js code to automate miranda. I know Mozilla has a js engine, so it would be a matter of writting the glue. This one is only an idea by now
  • Skin Plugins: a service to unify drawing of UI. The idea is that it would be used by clists and plugins like Tipper. In future it could also support exporting/importing of skin packs. This one is very low prio right now
  • Rewrite My Details using skin and fixing a lot of things
  • Make a dialog for setting own avatars for all protos in View/Change My details… and rename Custom Picture to Avatar in avs
  • Some time ago I had the idea of a plugin to allow multiple identities per protocol, but this was added to miranda roadmap
  • Last, but not least, there are a lot of plugins in beta that I want to make a final version and release in addons page

Lots of ideas, some pretty good and useful. What I’d like to see is more finished stuff, I mean out of alpha/beta stage, ready to use inspite of inherent small bugs.

So far you started working on a lot of plug-ins, but most of them are unfinished, and that is a pity. Try to focus on priorities. ;-)
My best wishes and good luck!

I agree with you that they have to be released, but I like to keep then for a while without bug reports before releasing then to the public. Also, I think it is better to release in addons page only when the miranda version needed is stable, so plugins like spell checker will only get there once 0.7 is out.

u have done a good job with listento and meebome! what about a random-background-changer for the modern-clist-plugin. there was such a random-background-changer (RBC), but it was not compatible to modern-clist (only the classic clist worked).

Thanks.
About the RBC, I have a theory: i only code plugins that I’ll use (because of a mood thing ;) ), and that plugin is one that I would not use… So, sorry, i won’t do it. Try asking in miranda feature requests forum.

Nice work pescuma ;)
